Uses one fewer saw cuts than produced boards, and a total surfacing allowance on every board. It assumes straight, uniform stock and does not model drift, defects or extra truing cuts. The stock dimension presented vertically to the blade must separately fit the saw’s cutting height.
How to use this result
Measure the usable board thickness after defects are removed, enter the actual blade kerf and reserve enough material for flattening both faces. The estimate counts one fewer kerf than finished pieces because three slices require only two separating cuts. Change one assumption at a time and keep the conservative result; the calculator does not establish that your saw, blade or stock support can make the cut safely.
