Ripping Boards on a Benchtop Bandsaw

Ripping means cutting along a board’s grain to reduce its width or produce narrower stock. Decide which edge will guide the board

If using a fence, the contacting edge must register predictably. A bowed, irregular, or damaged edge can steer the board and change the cut width. Prepare the sawn edge for its next job

Measure the width at several positions and decide how much finishing material remains.
